Workshop Training Schedule

Day One – Introduction to the Anger Busting™ Workshop

Time Topic and Summary
8:30 – 8:40 am Course Introduction and Workshop Orientation.
8:40 – 9:00 am Game/Exercise “The Anger Chain Reaction” -- A fun-filled way for participants to learn how anger escalates without being noticed until it is has become explosive.
9:00 – 9:15 am Debrief and discuss the elements and causes of anger.
9:15 – 10:00 am Anger: The Invisible Epidemic - Consequences of Anger on Relationships, Employment and Health – an analysis of the way in which inappropriate expressions of anger can produce serious social, economic and medical consequences; addresses physical symptoms, the fight or flight response, the role of the amygdala and how it is best explained to folks with anger problems.
10:00 – 10:15 am Coffee Break
10:15 – 11:15 am Understanding the Nature of Anger and Recognizing Anger Styles – a practical and easy to understand Anger Styles Instrument (which will be available to you to use with your clients) is completed by each participant detailing their own anger style and clearly showing what anger is – and what it is not.
11:15 – 11:50 am Anger Triggers and the Relationship Between Situations, Belief Systems and Emotions – understanding how what we think affects what we feel, and how that can lead to outbursts of anger. Gaining insights in these areas provides a necessary foundation for learning how to overcome and turn off these triggers.
11:50 -- Noon Learn and Practice proper relaxation and breathing techniques – a very effective tool that anyone, especially anger addicts, can learn to practice to quickly defuse their typical anger response pattern.
Noon – 1:00 pm Lunch Break (You are on your own for lunch.)
1:00 – 1:30 pm
Assertiveness: Putting Your Anger to Work – You will learn how to express anger in constructive, successful ways by using healthy assertiveness skills and processes to plan and achieve problem solving goals in ways that are safe and respectful of all parties.
1:30 – 1:45 pm Exploring Assertiveness– an enjoyable, challenging, hands on game to help you practice assertiveness skills. This exercise makes effective use of the Anger Bustng™ Short Scenario GAME Cards.
1:45 – 2:00 Debrief and discuss the six important skills you need to know to teach proper assertiveness techniques to your clients.
2:00 – 2:30 pm Abstain from These Behaviors – This important exercise will help you to recognize, understand and teach the 16 problematic behaviors that angry folks need to avoid and immediately stop doing.
2:30 – 2:45 pm Exercise: Stop Anger Now – round robin, hands on, individual interaction and practice to improve awareness and understanding of the 16 problematic behaviors, so you can effectively teach and train others in how to avoid them. This exercise makes use of our Anger Bustng™ Banned Behavior Cards.
2:45 – 3:00 pm Refreshment Break
3:00 – 3:30 pm
Effective Conflict Resolution – identifying the four typical emotional responses that drive conflict AND learning to use the best strategies to resolve conflict instead of avoiding it.
3:30 – 3:45 pm We Can Work it Out – Collaborative Conflict Resolution game based around Anger Bustng™ Personal Issue Cards.
3:45 – 4:15 pm Speaking the Truth in Love – Communication strategy that puts assertiveness into action by using proven active listening techniques to identify important issues without triggering the anger response.
4:15 – 4:45 pm Believing = Becoming – exploring 20 positive principles to start believing in order to permanently quench the anger fires and become a safer, happier person; uses the Anger Bustng™ 20 Belief cards.
4:45 – 5:00 pm The Freedom of Forgiveness – guided exercise to dramatize how forgiveness can begin to neutralize anger and bring lasting peace.
