Day Two – Leading Anger Bustng™ Therapy Groups

9:00 – 9:30 am Anger: Just Another Addiction – how understanding the ways in which rageaholic behavior follows the standard pattern of the addiction cycle can help develop an effective treatment model for folks with problem anger issues.
9:30 – 9:45 am Defeating Denial: The Key to Anger Addiction Recovery – an examination of the tools and exercises in the Anger Bustng™ Workbook that serve to break down an anger addict’s wall of denial.
9:45 – 10:00 am Denial and the Johari Window – an exercise to help rageaholics understand what denial is, how it works, and why they may not always see the whole truth about themselves and their behaviors.
10:00 – 10:15 am Coffee Break
10:15 – 10:30 am How to Use the Counseling and Training Guide for the Anger Bustng™ Workbook – A survey of the features and benefits contained in the Training Guide, with recommendations on how to use these resources effectively when working with a variety of clients, groups and situations.

10:45 – Noon Introduction to Presentation Skills – Learning how tone, pace, pitch, and the 60-30-10 rule of effective presentation skills can help you successfully communicate these important Anger Bustng™ principles to any group in any setting. Includes video-taped practice sessions to help speed progress and eliminate distracting behaviors.
Noon – 1:00 pm Lunch Break (You are on your own for lunch)
1:00 – 1:30 pm Handling Questions and Dealing with Difficult People – Introduction to anger management group dynamics, including training and practice in using effective strategies and skills to keep members of an anger management group focused on dealing with their own anger issues, even when some of them want to challenge your authority and shift the blame for their behavior onto others.
1:00 – 1:30 pm Handling Questions and Dealing with Difficult People – Introduction to anger management group dynamics, including training and practice in using effective strategies and skills to keep members of an anger management group focused on dealing with their own anger issues, even when some of them want to challenge your authority and shift the blame for their behavior onto others.
1:30 – 2:15 pm Getting Ready to Present – each participant will be assigned a topical section from the Anger Busting WorkbookTM, along with the supporting pages for that section from the Counseling and Training Guide, and receive instructions on how to prepare their module to present to the rest of the group.
2:15 – 2:30 pm Refreshment Break
2:30 – 4:45 pm Practice Teaching and Instructor/Group Feedback – participants will deliver their lesson module, with the rest of the class functioning as the subject “group;” participants will demonstrate a solid level of competency with the material and an understanding of proper presentation skills.
4:45 – 5:00 Summary and evaluation – Final thoughts on dealing with anger; filling out evaluation forms to help improve the quality of the program.
